Starting in fall 2016, Linda will join Samaritan Community as our new co-program director.

Despite a successful career as an attorney for more than 20 years, Linda Boyd, Samaritan Community's new Co-Program Director, felt she wanted to do something else in her life. As a long-time volunteer at many local organizations, including Samaritan Community, she knew what that "something else" was. She simply wanted to help people. That desire led her to be ordained as a Deacon in the Episcopal Church.

When she first started volunteering at Samaritan Community, as part of her social ministry training, Linda worked diligently with our members. And, she was immediately excited about what she experienced.

"I had never been part of such a dynamic group before," she says. "Members are well-served in a dignified, respectful manner. The feeling is more like a team effort of all those involved, rather than one group of people being served by another."

In her new position, which she will start this fall, Linda will be working in all avenues of Samaritan Community's work. Primarily, she will work closely with our programming staff to facilitate individual and group empowerment counseling, crisis intervention, and case management. She will also create educational and inspirational activities for support groups, as well as assist in overseeing our team of volunteers.

"She knows us, understands who we are, and has the right knowledge and experience for the job," says Sharon Krieger, Program Director at Samaritan Community. "And, with her kindness, patience, and deep desire to help others, this is really a great fit for us. We can't wait for her to get started."
