MEET Jim & Angel:
helping others after living through tragedy
Jim and Angel give back to others as volunteers who manage our clothing “shop.”
In 2016, Jim was brutally assaulted and robbed while driving a cab. As a result, he underwent three brain surgeries and spent months in the hospital. With no income and endless expenses, Jim and his wife Angel, became homeless. They lost all their possessions including clothing and furniture. Even Jim’s college diploma was lost in the eviction. It was just them and their three beloved cats in a downward spiral. In 2018, they were referred to Samaritan and things started to improve quickly. Everyone pitched in to provide food, clothing, and emotional support.
“Having the love and support of Sharon, the Program Director, meant everything!” Angel says.
Today, Jim and Angel have good housing and part-time work with the prospect of
full-time employment. And they now manage, as volunteers, our clothing “shop”, which once provided them with their only clothes.
“All of our hopes and prayers have been answered and then some,” say Jim and Angel.
