MEET MONTY:
SAMARITAN COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER, DONOR, AND FRIEND

Monty has been a long-time volunteer, donor, and friend of Samaritan Community. He helps us whenever he can, with whatever he can.

Monty has been a long-time volunteer, donor, and friend of Samaritan Community. He helps us whenever he can, with whatever he can.

Kind, funny, hardworking, creative, generous. Those are a few of the words that we, at Samaritan Community, use to describe Monty Howard, a beloved volunteer of ours for more than 15 years. Introduced to us as at our Charles Movie Night Gala in 1999, Monty has since given much of himself - time, talent, and treasure - to Samaritan Community.

"Monty is an extraordinary person," says Peter Dunn, Director of Community Relations at Samaritan Community. "Whenever he helps us with an event or a project, then people join in because they know he will make it a joyful and rewarding experience."

All of us at Samaritan Community adore Monty because of his absolute enthusiasm to help with whatever is needed. From shoveling snow to organizing fun and whimsical fundraising activities, he is a versatile and esteemed member of our team. And, it seems the admiration is mutual.

"Samaritan Community speaks to my values, and I love how Samaritan fosters growth through thoughtful caring, rather than just giving band-aid solutions," says Monty. "I see people every day in my neighborhood who are being helped by Samaritan. So, I see the profound benefits of its work."

In addition to Samaritan Community, Monty is also the Junior Warden at Memorial Episcopal Church, and sings in its choir. He is president of the Bolton Square Homeowners Association, served on the Board of Memorial Apartments Corp., and volunteers at several schools in the community. He has a passion for giving back and encourages people to get involved.

"I want people to understand how easy and rewarding it is to a part, no matter how big or small, of Samaritan Community. Picking up and delivering groceries for the food pantry, donating clothes, attending a fundraiser. These are all wonderful ways to contribute," he says.
